Nicknames

The phrase that associated with each bingo number, often rhyming or onomatopoeic. As well as the entertainment value and crowd-participation that this encouraged, it was a way to ensure that numbers were heard over the noise of a crowded hall. Many nicknames fell out of popularity for politically correct or socially conscious reasons, and have been discontinued nearly entirely with the event of computer drawn bingo.
