The “Free Paris Hilton” campaign could possibly take some inspiration from a nine-year-old German girl’s tactics in trying to get out of tidying her room. When ordered by her mother to tidy her bedroom, a young German girl from Braunschweig resorted to tearfully holding up a sign in her bedroom window saying “Help! Please call the police!”. For good measure she had a small boy sitting next to her. Worried neighbours took note, the police arrived and, unfortunately for the girl, discovered possibly the worst bedroom in Germany. Online bingo players with naughty young children may be satisfied to learn that the police promptly ordered the girl to tidy her room which was subsequently inspected two hours later to the satisfaction of local constables. Mother and daughter are reliably reported to have made up. It is unlikely Ms Hilton will have a small boy to help pull off a similar ploy, but given the Hilton camp’s previous attempts at lifting her prison sentence of 45 days for driving with a suspended license, one wouldn’t put it past them to try. A better ploy would be to argue that under the US constitution, not being allowed to play free online bingo while in prison constitutes “cruel and unusual punishment”. Paris Hilton will now only have to serve half her original sentence, much to the relief of fellow prisoners.
