Expecting to cash in on her horrendous ordeal at the hands of California’s barbaric correctional system may be backfiring for ‘reformed’ party girl Paris Hilton as both the NBC and ABC TV networks try to distance themselves from reports they were conducting wallet-journalism in trying to get an interview with the young heiress. Barbara Walters apparently turned down a chance to hear Paris tell her what it is like to stare at a cell wall for a few days. NBC did likewise saying they would only be interested if no money was involved,… no chance, since this is the Hiltons after all. Bingo Street have offered Ms Hilton a chance to play free online bingo games, but so far we have not seen any evidence that she has taken up our offer. But then we offer everyone the chance to play online bingo. And, anyway, what could she possibly tell us that we online bingo types would be interested in anyway? Back to the ABC/NBC thing and we learn that ABC executives backed off "because the process left us pretty cold". However, the same outfit had claimed earlier that it had secured the Hilton interview for up to $100,000. Then the Hiltons said NBC had beaten them with an "astronomical" offer. NBC then promptly denied the scurrilous accusation saying: "We don't pay for interviews and we'll never pay for interviews". Last word to also-rans the New York Post who’s petulant headline on being left out of the picture read: "So Crime DOES pay, Paris."
