Ageing material girl Madonna seems to have hit a serious snag in her attempt to adopt a Malawian baby. The bingo online community may remember that Madonna and film director husband Guy Ritchie were given custody of David Banda last October after his biological father had placed the baby in an orphanage upon the death of its biological mother. The snag in the adoption process seems to centred around a visit by a Malawi official to assess the suitability of Madonna and Ritchie’s parentage. It seems there are accusations that Madonna offered to pay the air ticket for the official and that this has been seen by the Malawian Minister of Women and Child Development as a conflict of interests. Malawi is an impoverished African nation where people have a hard enough time finding the essentials let alone indulging in the occasional free online bingo game. Madonna’s adoption of the baby has received a fair amount of criticism from human rights groups concerning the manner in which the adoption was originally processed. In an indication as to how bad this snag is, Justin Dzonzi, a spokesman and lawyer for a human rights group that is challenging Madonna's adoption said: "The Minister cannot change what the court set by having another person to do the assessment. The court will not listen to anyone else apart from the one it appointed." Dzonzi has filed a case arguing that Malawi laws prohibit international adoptions and that the Malawi government therefore contradicted its own laws in granting Madonna the adoption.
