Good news for many in the online bingo industry may be on its way with the reports of a possible settlement between major online bingo operator PartyGaming and US authorities signaling a softening in US attempts to prosecute online gaming companies. PartyGaming operates the PartyBingo online bingo hall and is a major player in the online gaming industry as a whole. When the US implemented its notorious Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in late 2006, PartyGaming was amongst the many non-US gaming companies that had to withdraw from the US market to avoid prosecution. PartyGaming CEO Mitch Garber has said to reporters this week that he expects a settlement with US authorities over the company’s business activities in the US pre-UIGEA to be reached by the year’s end. "It's very hard to predict. There's some fluidity to it. We're in the midst of a process and our attorneys tell us it is moving in the right direction and at the right speed," Garber said.
